I began my career in 1990 as an estate administrator, offering patient advocacy work as a courtesy to my senior clients. In 2008 I became a full-time patient advocate after fighting a misdiagnosis and mistreatment for trigeminal neuralgia, a rare nerve disorder which causes electrical shocks to the face. Major brain surgery was required to correct this disorder. That experience resulted in beginning my full-time advocacy practice. I offer in-person and remote accompaniment to physician visits and hospitalizations. I oversee hospital discharges to homes and skilled nursing facilities. Skilled in medical billing negotiation, I have saved clients hundreds of thousands of dollars. Advanced healthcare and life care planning (Last Wills, Revocable Trusts) are offered. Experienced, successful track record with insurance appeals (private, Medicare, and Medi-Caid.) Aid in review and comparison of insurance coverage options.

At Soul Sherpa Healthcare Advocacy Services we promote Life Care Planning (LCP) as part of our advocacy work. LCP has typically been associated with medical and legal fields in the past, where a plan for the remainder of one’s life injured by accident or illness is necessary. — As our health care system continues to evolve and is affected by a for-profit business mentality and lobbyist-affected political influences, Soul Sherpa considers LCP akin to an umbrella that should be found next to everyone’s raincoat. Our strongest centerpiece (known as an umbrella’s pole) is patient advocacy, where we accompany clients during medical care, help them understand their insurance coverage, seek to overturn insurance denials, oversee safe hospital discharges, strive to keep people independent, fight for the accuracy in medical billing, explain appropriate insurance coverage, and assist with completion of Advance Health Care documents.
